Merging a dataset

Merging a dataset

When the work on a dataset is taken as finished, we can merge it, in order to display the completion of the manipulations on lines and the periods it contains.

Merge is in the "Current offers" section of the menu.

To merge a dataset, simply move it to the "Selected datasets" tab and press the " Submit" button.

Modifying a part of the existing offer

In the life cycle of a transport offer, it can happen to modify the offer on a part of the existing offer only on specific lines.

For example, it is possible to modify the transport offer only on one day. The following diagram represents the objective that we want to produce in Chouette:

In Chouette, you just have to take a dataset that has already been finalized called "New".

The merged dataset is in the "Archived" status. It must be cloned in order to make the changes you want on its copy.

In the "Copy of New" dataset, open the timetable and click on "Edit this timetable". The timetable in question run services every day of the week of the period.

Pressing on the "+" in the exceptions and clicking on "Submit" will allow to include the chosen day in the timetable, so the services associated with this timetable will also circulate on Sunday 16 January 2022 by exception.

Now that the modifications are done, it is necessary to merge the data set "Copy_New" so that the new data are taken into account in the offer.

Extend the offer

Another possible need is to extend the offer on one or more lines. The following diagram represents the objective we want to produce in Chouette :

For example, we need to extend the offer on the "City" line.

The "New" dataset that contained it is in "Archived" status, so it must be cloned in order to make the appropriate changes to its copy.

Once the copy has been created, click on the "Edit this data set" button.

In the form you must leave only the line(s) needed to be extended, in this case you leave only the "City" line and change the end date of the period.

After validating the changes in the dataset form, click on the "Timetables" button.

Then you must change the period for each timetable which is associated with a service.

In the timetable form click on the button "Edit this timetable".

On the edition page we click on the button "Add a period", we put the new dates and we validate.

Now that the modifications have been made, it remains to merge the "Copy_New" data set so that the new data on the "City" line are taken into account in the offer.

Remove the offer of a line

Your objective can also be to remove the offer of one or more lines from the merge offer. The following diagram represents the objective we want to produce in Chouette :

For example, the data on the "City" line must be removed from the merged offer.

To empty the data on the "City" line from the offer, create a new dataset, select the period for which you want to empty the data, choose the "City" line from the list and press " Submit".

The dataset is created and no longer contains data on the line for the set period.

Now merge the created dataset so that the old data on the "City" line for the defined period are rewritten in the offer.

Modify a route on a line

Another possible use case is to modify a route on a line in a merged offer. The following diagram represents the objective we want to produce in Chouette :

For example, we need to modify a route on the "City" line.

The "New" dataset that contained this line is in "Archived" status, so it must be cloned in order to make the desired changes to its copy.

Once the copy has been created, click on the "Edit this data set" button.

In the form you must leave only the line containing the route to be modified, in this case you keep the line "City" and submit.

After the validation of the changes in the dataset form, click on the name of the line to display the routes it contains.

Click on the name of the route and click on the "Edit this route" button.

On the editing page you can remove or add one or more stop areas and submit.

Now that the modifications have been made, the "Copy_New" dataset must be merged so that the new data on the "City" line route are taken into account in the offer.

Rollback on an old merged offer

To undo the merged offer, there is a Rollback function available in the list of actions on previous merges. Simply click on the gearwheel of one of the previous merged offers and click on "Rollback".

This manipulation allows you to go back to a previous step and cancel the unwanted merges.

The datasets concerned by the cancelled merged offers will return to the "Ready" status after this manipulation.
